Hi, I’m EBW ๐Ÿ‘‹

I’m a data and information professional, researcher, organizer, educator, crafter, and avid puzzler. I’m currently an analytics manager at NYT Games and secretary of the Times Tech Guild.

I enjoy reading, thinking, and occasionally writing about things like professional identity formation, career development, institutional culture, and organizational change.

I’ve also given talks on data careers at multiple organizations. (Interested in booking me as a speaker? Please reach out via LinkedIn or email!)

In the past, I’ve…

โœŠ gone on strike with several hundred of my closest friends,

๐Ÿง  wrangled research data in a neuroscience lab focused on early social development,

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŽ“ investigated the factors that set engineering students up for success in college,

๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ processed an archival collection of medical illustrations from the 1930s,

๐Ÿ’ƒ taught ballroom and social dancing to adult beginners,

๐ŸŽธ played bass in a queer alt rock band,

๐Ÿงช developed computational models of low-coordinate iron complexes, and

๐Ÿ’ก illuminated a bunch of different people on stage.

I’m originally from the Boston area (Go Sox, etc.) and currently reside in Queens, New York, although I’ve spent most of my adult life to date living in New Haven, Connecticut (and I won’t shut up about why it’s the #GSCIA) ๐Ÿ•
